ABOUT THE EVENT

The World Pulses Day, celebrated annually on February 10, was established by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). This day highlights the essential role pulses play in promoting sustainable agriculture, food security, and climate protection. Pulses such as peas, chickpeas, lentils, and beans are not only a valuable source of plant-based protein but also a natural contributor of nitrogen to the soil. Ukraine, as both a producer and exporter, actively participates in the global celebration of World Pulses Day in 2025.
The Ukrainian Pulses Association will host World Pulses Day in Ukraine on January 30, 2025. Attendees can expect an engaging and eventful program. The celebration will feature a historic milestone for the agricultural sector—the official merger of two major Ukrainian industry associations. This consolidation will unite producers, processors, and exporters of pulses and soybeans.
The event program will feature a panel discussion titled "The Soybean and Pulses Market: Global Balances." Experts will share their insights on global trends, export opportunities, and strategies for developing the Ukrainian market.
With Ukraine’s rapid progress toward European integration, producers are facing significant challenges. As part of the event, a seminar titled “Key Aspects of EUDR in the Context of Ukrainian Soybean” will address the implementation of the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). Participants will gain critical insights and practical guidance on the upcoming requirements for agricultural exports, which will soon become highly relevant.
The day will culminate in a press conference, “Pulses and Soybeans: A Unified Voice of Ukrainian Agribusiness.” This event will feature remarks by Ukraine’s Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Vitalii Koval, leaders of the newly formed association, and prominent business representatives.
The celebration will conclude with a networking opportunity during an evening business cocktail, featuring an array of dishes made from pulses.
IMPORTANT! Participation is free but exclusively available to: • Agricultural producers • Agroholdings • Agroproduct processors • Members of the Ukrainian Pulses Association • Members of the Ukrainian Soybean Association • Representatives of specialized mediaPre-registration is mandatory, as space is limited. Participants will receive confirmation of their registration via email after their application is reviewed by the organizers.

The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) imposes strict requirements on agricultural products supplied to the EU market. Ukrainian soybean producers targeting European consumers must now demonstrate that their products do not contribute to deforestation or ecosystem degradation. Failure to comply with these regulations could result in the loss of access to one of the world's largest markets.
Producers will also face the challenge of implementing transparent mechanisms for product traceability and certification, requiring additional knowledge, resources, and adaptation of business processes. In this context, a clear understanding of the new regulation is essential.
This seminar will serve as a practical platform where experts will: • Clarify the key provisions of EUDR and the specific requirements for producers. • Explain how to establish an effective system for product traceability. • Provide guidance on certification processes that meet EU standards.
Participants will gain insights on how to mitigate risks, maintain their export positions, and leverage the new regulatory requirements as a competitive advantage.

The unification of the Ukrainian Pulses Association (CPPCU) and the Ukrainian Soybean Association is a strategically justified step that meets the demands of the times. Today, Ukrainian producers of pulses and soybeans face several significant challenges: • Increasing competition in international markets • The need to adapt to European standards • The necessity of implementing innovations to enhance production efficiency
Fragmentation within the sector complicates the resolution of these issues. This merger enables the consolidation of resources, unification of efforts, and the development of a cohesive strategy for growth.
The new format of the unified association will include: • A single platform for collaboration among producers, processors, traders, and exporters. • Synergy of knowledge and expertise to address the industry's pressing challenges. • Effective advocacy to represent the sector’s interests at both the national and international levels. • Enhanced export opportunities through product promotion in global markets and the development of trade partnerships with key regions such as the EU, Turkey, China, and India.
The unified association is committed to advancing both pulses and soybeans, as they complement each other harmoniously. By creating a unified strategy, the association will work more effectively with diverse trade partners, expand export opportunities, and adapt products to meet the specific demands of each market.
